Organization: Fellowship of Middle Earth (c/o The Union, Monash University, Clayton, Victoria, 3168, Australia).

  • Activities: Celebrations of J.R.R. Tolkien's birthday on 3 January; Dragon Egg Hunt on Easter; Cormarë/Bilbo and Frodo Baggins' birthdays (incorporating the Exchange of Mathoms) on 22 September; and, a Yulemoot in December. There are Dragonflights and Hobbit High Teas at university Open Day and Orientation Week as well as various other excursions and events. F.O.M.E. tends its very own green flying Dragon.
  • Publication: Elbereth [English, irregular]. Subscription cost is $A3 (students) or $A5 (non-students). Stormcrow [English, irregular]. Available free to members.

Organization: The Inner Ring: The Mythopoeic Literature Society of Australia (Dr. John Strugnell, Dept. of English, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, 4072 Australia).

  • Activities: Hosted a conference at the university titled "New Perspectives: Culture, Society, Gender and Belief in Mythopoeic Literature" from 23-25 September. The paper "Friends in High Places: Tolkien's Fantasy vs the Merely Fantastic" was given on 25 September.
  • Publication: The Journal of Myth, Fantasy & Romanticism [English, semi-annually]. Subscription cost is $A25 (Australia), $A35 (world).
